Algodonales is an ideal base for walking, cycling (we have bikes available), horse riding, paragliding and hot-air ballooning - and for wildlife lovers and birdwatchers. The rare griffon vulture roosts on the Lijar mountain immediately behind Algodonales, named after Algodon (cotton), which grows in the area.

We have a stork living just opposite

Finca Alta Cocina and we spot grey and

black herons by the nearby River Guadalete.  There are many different species of birds in the area including eagles, owls and cuckoos…to name just a few.

Artists and photographers will be in their element with all the beauty

around them.

Algodonales is a mecca for paragliding and hang gliding, with four flying

schools in the town. Often vultures fly alongside the pilots, who can be seen from Finca Alta Cocina launching themselves off a high mountain, often landing in a field next to the finca.

If you have time to spend a day at the coast, Algodonales is about 90 minutes’ drive from the beautiful Costa de la Luz beaches of Cadiz and Sanlucar de Barrameda, and we are also within reach of Marbella on the Costa del Sol.
